Certified translation of other administrative and legal documents
Do you have an official document that needs translating for an administrative procedure in France? Transdoc translates any official document, from death certificates to vaccination records, as well as powers of attorney, payslips, tax notices, and contracts. Sworn translator registered with a French Court of Appeal.
Whatever your procedure involves — a prefecture, a town hall, a notary, a court, a consulate, an employer, a university, or an insurer — you will almost always need a certified translation of a document issued abroad. Transdoc handles more than 100 different types of documents, beyond the main categories covered by our dedicated pages: birth certificate, marriage certificate, diploma, driving licence, criminal record, and divorce judgment.
Our court-registered expert translators specialise by field: civil law, family law, corporate law, tax law, medical, technical, and engineering. Each document is assigned to a professional with the required sector-specific expertise.
Good to know: any translation intended for a French authority must be produced by a translator registered on the list of a Court of Appeal or on the national list of the Court of Cassation. A "free" (non-certified) translation · even one produced by a professional translator · has no legal value.

What is the difference with a free (non-certified) translation?
A free (non-certified) translation (done by a non-sworn translator or an automated tool) has no legal value. Only a certified translation · signed and stamped by a court-registered expert translator on the list of a Court of Appeal · is accepted by French authorities, courts, notaries, universities, and public-sector employers.
Do these documents need an apostille?
It depends on the country of issue and the procedure:
EU: generally not. Hague Convention countries outside the EU: an apostille is required on public documents (notarial deeds, court rulings, civil status documents). Other countries: legalisation (ministry + consulate).
Certain private documents (employment contract, payslip) do not need an apostille because they are not public documents. See apostille & legalisation.
