Transdoc's official 2026 price list: every rate by document type, language and turnaround time. From €39 civil status records to procedure bundles saving up to 25%. Total transparency, no hidden extras, satisfaction guaranteed.
Contrary to popular belief, there is no longer a mandatory legal price list for certified translation in France. Since Decree No. 2007-1147 of 26 July 2007 (the "Dati decree") was repealed and expert-witness fees were overhauled by the 2014 and 2020 decrees, rates are entirely unregulated.
The 2007 decree set, solely for court-requisitioned assignments, a rate of €25 to €42 per page. This rate never applied to services provided to private individuals. Its removal in 2020 clarified the situation: all rates are now freely negotiated between the translator and their client.
Over 2020-2026, average rates rose by around 18%, driven by three factors: general inflation (17.4% cumulative), a shrinking pool of sworn translators (a net decline in registered numbers since 2019), and rising professional liability insurance costs.
A €39 rate for a birth certificate translation may seem high for one page. It actually covers: 25 minutes of pure translation, 15 minutes of cross-checking, 10 minutes of formalisation (stamp, signature, binding), 5 minutes of legal archiving, firm overheads (insurance, ongoing training, Court of Appeal list maintenance), tracked postage, and a margin covering a guaranteed 15% of free redos.
The French certified translation market has settled around stable ranges. Here are the benchmarks observed in April 2026, across agencies and independent translators alike.
